Most travellers fly into Dalaman Airport (DLM), the closest airport to Fethiye and the nearby resorts. The airport is around 45 km from Fethiye town centre, and the drive typically takes 45–50 minutes. In July and August, allow extra time. Traffic can slow the approach to Fethiye, and the road towards Ovacık, Hisarönü and Ölüdeniz can add 20 minutes or more on top.
If you are combining Turkey with the Greek islands, you can also take the seasonal ferry from Rhodes to Fethiye, usually between April and October.

- Operator: Muttaş is the regional municipal service and runs all year. Havaş operates on the same route, with more departures in summer. Both use the same stop outside arrivals and finish at Fethiye Otogar (the town's main bus station).
- Journey Time: Expect 60–75 minutes to Fethiye, depending on traffic and drop-off points.
- Departures: Shuttles from the airport do not follow a fixed timetable. They are timed around flight arrivals, including late in the evening. Muttaş states that it meets every domestic arrival, so if you are landing on an international flight, check the information board in arrivals for the next service.
- Payment: You pay on board in cash or by credit/debit card.
- Çalış Beach drop-off: If you are travelling light and staying in Çalış, you can ask to be dropped off at Çalış Junction instead of continuing to the Otogar. Bear in mind that the nearest taxi rank is a 10-minute walk away and passing dolmuşes are often full, so this only saves time if you have little luggage.

Hiring a Car at Dalaman Airport
Car hire desks line the arrivals hall, where you will find most of the major international chains alongside Turkish firms. A car is worth considering if you plan to visit places such as Saklıkent Gorge, Kayaköy or Patara, which are less convenient to reach by dolmuş.
- Documents: Bring your driving licence, passport and a credit card in the main driver's name. Most companies require the card for the security deposit.
- Booking ahead: In July and August, book before you travel, as availability at the airport is limited.
- The drive: The route to Fethiye follows the D400, a well-surfaced main road. If you are continuing to Ovacık, Hisarönü or Ölüdeniz, the road beyond Fethiye is winding and steep in places.
- Göcek Tunnel: Between Dalaman and Fethiye, the D400 passes through the Göcek Tunnel, which charges a toll. Ask at the rental desk how tolls are paid for your car, as many hire cars are fitted with an electronic toll tag and the charge is added to your bill afterwards.

The Rhodes–Fethiye ferry is a practical option if you are combining the Greek islands with the Turkish coast. High-speed ferries dock at Fethiye Commercial Harbour, also known locally as the New Harbour.

- Passport & Customs: Allow enough time for passport and customs checks at both ports. Arrive at Rhodes port at least 60 minutes before departure.
- Fares & Extras: Port taxes and service fees are not always included in the advertised fare, so check the small print before booking.
- Delays & Cancellations: High-speed sailings can be delayed or cancelled in strong mid-summer winds.
- Getting to the centre: Taxis are usually waiting at the harbour when ferries arrive. If the queue is long, walk a short distance along the waterfront and flag one down.
- Booking: Two companies operate the route, and tickets usually go on sale several months in advance. Timetables change during the season, so book directly with an operator or through an agency in Fethiye or Rhodes to make sure you have the latest sailing times.
Coming via Antalya Airport
Some travellers fly into Antalya Airport (AYT) instead of Dalaman because of better flight connections or lower fares. Fethiye is around 200 km away by road. The intercity coach from Antalya Otogar to Fethiye Otogar takes 3 to 3.5 hours, depending on the route and stops. Once you arrive at Fethiye Otogar, you can continue by local dolmuş or taxi, as described below. Daytime coaches run roughly every hour, and you can check times or book tickets on obilet.com.
The coach is comfortable and inexpensive, though it is less convenient if you land late at night: departures thin out later in the evening, so you may face a long wait at Antalya Otogar before your coach leaves. A tram line and an airport shuttle bus both connect the terminal with the bus station during the day, and taxis are available outside arrivals at all hours. Allow at least 90 minutes to collect your luggage and reach the bus station. You can also arrange a private transfer from Antalya, though it costs considerably more than travelling by coach.
After You Arrive at Fethiye Otogar
Airport shuttles and long-distance coaches arrive at Fethiye Otogar. From there, you can continue to central Fethiye or the nearby resorts by local dolmuş or taxi.
Central Fethiye is around 10 minutes away. Resort areas such as Ölüdeniz, Hisarönü, Ovacık and Çalış Beach take between 15 and 30 minutes, as set out in the table below.
